Finality of Saved Forms: Once you’ve entered and saved your information for a previous year’s form, you cannot eFile, correct, or edit it. However, you can always print it for your records.
Prerequisite for Prior Year Forms: To create forms for a prior year, you must have already created forms in that specific tax year. The tax year dropdown will not include previous years in which you did not create forms.
Steps to Create a Form for a Previous Tax Year
Change the Tax Year: From your dashboard, select the tax year for which you’d like to create a form. In this example, we're going to add a form for the tax year 2023.
Navigate to Forms: Click on “Forms” in the menu.
Add a New Form: Click “Add New” to start creating your form.
Enter Information: The following screen will appear. Click "Continue."
Select Form Type: Under Create a Form, select the type of form you want to create. In this case, we’re creating a 1099-INT for 2023.
Select Payer: Choose a payer from your dropdown menu.
Select Recipient: Choose a recipient from your dropdown menu.
Fill in Data: Enter your data in the appropriate fields and then click “Save.”
Important Reminder (Again)
Once you’ve created your form, entered your information, and clicked Save, you cannot eFile, file a correction, or edit your previous year’s form(s). You may only print your previous year’s form(s).
Voila! You’ve just created a form (a 1099-INT) for a previous year!
