Once you’ve entered or imported all your data into Adams Tax Forms Helper and you’re satisfied your forms are correct, you can begin to eFile.
Step 1. Review your data
Don’t overlook this important step! Once your file is transferred electronically, all associated files are locked for editing. You can no longer make any changes in Tax Forms Helper to your form or your payer record.
Give your data a thorough review to ensure names and addresses are correct and your data is entered or updated correctly for the current tax season.
Step 2. Choose your form(s)
From your dashboard, go to “Forms.”
Next, check the box or boxes of the forms you’d like to eFile. Here, we’re going to eFile a 1099-NEC.
Next, click the Checkout & File button.
Step 3. Checkout Process
If you're filing a form or forms you haven't TIN checked, you'll see the following screen. Here, we're choosing to eFile w/out a TIN Check.
Select how you would like your employee/recipient forms delivered. In this case, we're choosing Mail Delivery. Click Continue when ready.
Next, please select the suggested address and make sure your info is accurate. Click "Validate Address."
Click Save and Continue once your address is validated.
Click "Complete Order" button.
You'll see the following screen and, in this case, since we have eFile credits, they've simply subtracted from our total Federal eFile credits. The same is true for our Mail Delivery credits. They've subtracted from our totals.
You’ll also receive an email with details of your order. This email includes an Order Summary, eFile submission details, and key steps for tracking your filing progress.
You’ll also get an email confirmation letting you know when your eFile(s) have been accepted. 'Accepted' means that your filings have been successfully submitted and are now in the queue for processing by the IRS, which may take additional time during peak periods.
Finally, when your Federal eFile has been processed, you’ll get an email confirmation. Please note, during high-demand periods, this processing may take up to 4 weeks. However, your eFiling date remains unchanged.
You’ve eFiled your forms to federal agencies. Nice work!
If you use Mail Delivery Service, there’s really nothing more to do.
If you didn’t use Mail Delivery Service or Email Delivery, you’ll still need to send copies to your employees and recipients by the copy B deadline. (See IRS deadlines for those dates.)
Tax Forms Helper will update you by email when your tax forms are processed. It may take up to 4 weeks for the IRS to process returns during periods of high demand.
Remember, your eFiling date remains the same, no matter when the IRS processes your forms, so you’re done!
Troubleshooting Common Concerns
Filing Errors: Minor issues like an email requirement error won’t block your filings from being submitted and accepted.
Payment Issues: If you notice a pending charge from a failed order, rest assured that it will be removed automatically after a few days.
Email Updates: Ensure that you check your email for order summaries and updates to stay informed about the status of your filings.
Feel free to celebrate the end of another successful tax season!
