Quick version: Open the Print page for your forms, choose your options, set Output to Download, and click Print Forms.
Need a copy of your tax forms for your records? Helper can save them as a PDF you can keep or print later.
Important: PDFs of Copy A, a 1096, or a W-3 can’t be used for filing. Mailed filings must be printed on pre-printed red-ink forms. See Why can’t I file plain paper printouts of IRS “red ink” forms?
How do I open the Print page?
Go to Forms in the left menu.
For one form, click Actions on its row and choose Print.
For several forms, check the box next to each form, then click Print in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
Choose your PDF options
Under Print Method, choose Blank sheet for records or recipient copies. Choose Pre-printed IRS forms only if you’ll print the PDF onto official IRS forms.
Under Print Access, choose:
Print with Watermark (free) for drafts and internal records
Print without Watermark (paid) for copies you’ll send, which requires an eFile purchase or a fee
Under Output, choose Download.
Under Privacy, turn on Mask recipient TIN? to hide the recipient’s tax ID on the PDF.
Check the summary at the bottom of the page, then click Print Forms. Your PDF downloads to your computer.
Changed your mind? Click Cancel to go back to your Forms list.
Good to know
Copy A can’t be saved on a blank sheet, and its recipient TIN can’t be masked.
1096 and W-3 always have a watermark on a blank sheet, even with Print without Watermark.
Previous years’ forms download without a watermark at no charge, as long as every form in the job is from an earlier tax year.
Pre-printed forms need forms from a single tax year.
